Ebola

Democratic Republic of the Congo

On September 30, Africa CDC (Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention) reported a total of 105 suspected Ebola cases, with no new suspected cases since the previous update on September 22. In addition, 48 cases have been confirmed overall, with 10 new confirmations. A total of 27 deaths have been reported, an increase of three since the last update.

 

MPOX

Africa

Sierra Leone: The latest update from the World Health Organization shows 5,308 confirmed mpox cases as of September 21, a surge of 17 cases since September 14. According to Africa CDC on September 30, these cases are linked to clade 2b, with 6.5% of confirmed cases in children under 15 years of age and 51% in males. Testing shows a 78% positivity rate. 

Uganda: As of September 21, 2025, Uganda reported 6,737 confirmed mpox cases, according to the World Health O rganization. This is an increase of 48 cases since September 14. Testing shows a 47,97% positivity rate.

Guinea: As of September 21, 2025, The World Health Organization has reported 976 cases in 2025 and one death in Guinea. This is an increase of 34 cases since September 14. According to Africa CDC, Testing shows a 43% positivity rate and the outbreak is linked to clade 2b.  

  

MEASLES

U.S.

As of September 24, 2025, Center for Disease Control reports a total of 1,544 confirmed measles cases in the U.S. in 2025. 12 % of cases have required hospitalization (191 cases of 1,544), and three deaths have been reported.

As of September 26, 2025, the New Mexico Department of Health has declared the state's measles outbreak over. The outbreak, which began on February 14, 2025, resulted in 100 confirmed cases, with the final cases reported on August 14. 

According to CBS News Minnesota, on September 29, 2025, Minnesota health officials reported three new measles cases in Dakota County, all unvaccinated children from the same family, bringing the state’s total for 2025 to eight.

Canada.

As of September 29, 2025, Canada has reported 5,006 measles cases where 70% occurred in children, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. Ontario accounts for 48% of the cases, followed by Alberta with 38%. 88% were unvaccinated, and 7 % required hospitalization. Genotype D8 remains the most frequently detected strain. 1 death has been reported. 

 

POLIO

As of September 24, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative reports poliovirus detections in Africa, including one cVDPV2-positive environmental sample in Algeria, three cVDPV2 cases in Angola, and four cVDPV2 cases in Nigeria. In Pakistan, two WPV1 cases and 50 WPV1-positive environmental samples have been detected.

 

H5N1

U.S.

As of September 26, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not reported any cases of person-to-person transmission of H5N1 in the United States. The total remains at 70 confirmed cases and one death.
