GREEN transition investments have the potential to reduce dependence on fossil fuel forms of energy and thereby reducing emissions. This can support Tanzania in adapting to climate change and becoming more socially and politically resilient. However, we know that natural resource investments often cause conflicts by ignoring the ideas local populations have about how to benefit from GREEN investments and bypassing local government authorities and undermining their authority. 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 lack knowledge on whether GREEN investments treat local populations and governments any different from what we know from conventional natural resource investments.

This project brings together researchers from 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 University in Denmark, the University of Dodoma and Aga Khan University in Arusha in Tanzania, as well as the NGO Policy Forum, to critically examine how GREEN investments are implemented in Tanzania. The aim is to identify new ways of involving and creating benefits for local populationsand governments and engage in policy dialogue with relevant stakeholders. The project uses a mixed methods approach combining anthropology, political ecology, political economy, and development economics.
