Research seminar at KRVIA, Mumbai
"Smart City projects have emerged as the newest framework for urban development schemes, especially across the Global South. High tech, sensor driven solutions to urban ‘problems’ are viewed as the key to building smart cities of the future. But how do these solutions fare in historically unequal cities? Drawing on research from South Africa, Kenya and India, panelists will deliberate the impact of smart cities projects on dynamics of urban inequality."

The seminar was initiated by a research team from the Department of Social Sciences and Business of the 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 University, Denmark. Three of their researchers - Somdeep Sen, Wangui Kimari and Jacob Rasmussen - are visiting Mumbai in April, and were keen on sharing their research findings from Kenya, South Africa and India. Binti Singh and Manoj Parmar from KRVIA will also be presenting their work on the Smart City Mission in India. Hussain Indorewala (KRVIA) will act as convener and there will be policiy commentaries to the presentations from Aniruddha Shahapure (COO CyanConnode) and Sameer Unhale (former CEO of Smart City Thane).
